Do you want to learn how to compose beautiful sacred music?
Scala, for whom I serve as Artist-in-Residence is pleased to partner with The Catholic Sacred Music Project in three events in Princeton in the summer of 2024 to revitalize the culture of beautiful music: a program for composers, a program for choral conductors, and a program for choral singers. These incredible programs are led by Peter Carter and include instruction by world-renowned musicians such as Sir James MacMillan, Gabriel Crouch, Paul Jernberg, James Jordan and Timothy McDonnell.
The CSMP Choral and Composition Institutes occur June 9-15, and the CSMP Conductor's Institute takes place June 16-21. All the programs will be held in Princeton, New Jersey. For details on all three programs, see sacredmusicproject.org
On June 15, 2024, hosted by the Princeton Theological Seminary chapel, Scala will co-sponsor a concert with the Catholic Sacred Music Project featuring new compositions by participants in the composers' workshops. As part of this event, Margarita Mooney Clayton will host a conversation with Sir James MacMillan about the connections between music and civic culture. A second public concert of choral composition will be hosted at the Princeton Theological Seminary Chapel on June 21, 2024. Stay tuned for details on those public events!
